My New House | Columbus Ohio Photographer

So this Fall I was super busy both professionally and personally! I’ve always wanted to use my blog for personal things too, so now is a great time to start! We built a new house that had been my “labor of love” for quite a while. We finally moved in at the end of October. Some of my “online” friends have been asking me to see pictures, so before a party (i.e. the house was clean) I snapped some pictures of my kitchen, sun room, and mudroom. I really should have used flash for these, but I was in a hurry, so these will have to do for now!

I’m a bit obsessed with my range, even though I’m not much of a cook.  Hubby loves it though!

Love your beautiful home!!! I am looking for a Dash & Albert rug. What is the style name of the one in your sunroom?

What is the cabinet/trim color and the wall color that looks like a very light gray? (Not the wickham gray) but the wall color in the mushroom?

Cheryl - December 11, 2015 - 12:34 am

I’m a little late to the party…but can you share what color the kitchen island is?

Lyndsey - June 2, 2016 - 2:10 pm

Hello there! I have fallen madly in love with your home and design style. My family and I just purchased 14 acres in a country setting and are in the planning stages of building a 2500sqft ranch. Your home is going to be my inspiration. I was wondering if you would be so kind as to answer a few questions? Please tell me if all these walls are bm Wickham gray, and if not, which ones are and what are the others? We designed an extremely open greatroom so I’m looking for one amazing color to paint the whole thing. And is your backsplash white subway tile with white grout? And what paint color did you paint your island? Thank you, thank you in advance for your time and help 🙂 God Bless!

What is the wall color, pls? Did you paint the island full strength Wickham Gray, and the walls 1/2 strength?

newadmin - September 16, 2016 - 4:44 pm

Wall is Wickham Gray and Island is Slate from the Manufacturer- Debut Cabinetry. 🙂

Taylor - February 7, 2017 - 7:45 pm

Where was the vent hood purchased from?

newadmin - February 8, 2017 - 4:18 pm

The vent hood was custom made by my carpenter.

Hello! I found your site this week while looking for some examples of Wickham Gray, and your beautiful photos gave me the courage to give it a try. I am ultimately wanting to paint all the main rooms and hallways in a soft gray shade, so I tested Wickham Gray out in my daughter’s room a few days ago to get a feel for it, since I wasn’t sure I’d love it, but I knew I wouldn’t hate it. 🙂 In her room it is coming off so fresh, that is almost industrial. I really like it in natural light (which I wish our house had more of), but I can’t decide what I think of it in artificial lighting. And I’m wondering if it would be worth lightening by 25%. I am curious if you have found Wickham Gray to be a tad too dark in low lighting and if you’ve found the green-blue undertones to work well with any decor. Thank you so much!

Hi Kim! My house has tons of natural light, so I’m not sure how it would look with artificial light. I think it ties in well with my (updated, need new pics!) eclectic decor. I can definitely see it going towards industrial, but I think it comes across as a fresh neutral that can really look good with anything! My main colors are blue, green, and white and it works perfectly with those. I have never found it too dark…I’ve thought about darker colors actually if I ever need a refresh!

Can you tell me how long this island is? It’s beautiful!

newadmin - September 28, 2017 - 8:54 pm

Hi Bea! Thanks! I love having such a big island. Just wish I would have put in more seating, but all the storage is divine! Just measured- it’s 113.5″ long x 39″ wide.

Lora Wood - October 27, 2017 - 7:31 pm

Britt, can you tell us what color of white you used on the trim? It looks great with the Wickham Gray.

newadmin - October 29, 2017 - 10:21 pm

Hi Lora! Thanks!
The white trim paint is just Decorator’s white!

Aimee - February 11, 2018 - 6:49 pm

My husband is building me benches for our new mudroom and the lay out is the same with the window and everything! Would you mind sharing the dimensions?

Thanks so much! Everything in your home is just gorgeous!

newadmin - March 5, 2018 - 4:28 pm

Hi Aimee!
Sorry I’m just now responding!
The cubbies are 17.5″ Deep and Tall. The openings for shoes are 6″ high and almost 17/5″ wide. I like that I can fit 2 pairs of shoes in each hole. I would recommend using a wood floor for the part the shoes rest on though- the painted wood gets warped and dirty from water/ dirty shoes.
Good luck!
